Martta Kelly was born and raised in Roseland, NJ, later moving to Caldwell, NJ, where she was graduated from James Caldwell High School. She went on to study journalism at Syracuse University. Martta lived in Montclair for 23 years before moving to West Orange, where she currently lives with her husband, Tom, and their two spoiled tabby cats. She has worked as a medical writer for more than two decades.
Martta has been a digital photographer for 12 years, using an iPhone exclusively. Her favorite subjects are flowers, trees, animals, abandoned structures, architecture, and anything quirky that captures her imagination.
In addition to Studio Montclair Gallery, her work has been featured at The Montclair Public Library; Berkshire-Hathaway Real Estate, Montclair; 1650 Gallery, Los Angeles; iPhone Art Exhibit, St. Helena, CA; Sixteen Mile Arts, Milton, Ontario; P1xels at an Exhibition (online, now defunct); and the International Black and White Spider Awards, where she won Honorable Mentions in the Photojournalism and Silhouette categories. She recenty took first place in the photography category at the Essex County Senior Citizens Juried Art Show, for her photo, Cherry Blossom Princess, which received an Honorable Mention in the non-professional photography category at the statewide competition. Her work was recentlu selected to be part of an installation at The Oyster Point Hotel Gallery in Red Bank, NJ, which ran through October 30, 2024.
